Welcome back to the Rhonda Swan Show. Season 10 has been lightening up. In fact, if you didn’t watch the episodes in New York City, make sure you go back and watch those because they are on fire. However, this episode is gonna blow you away because we are in LA, baby. We are in Hollywood in the new studio, and I am so excited to bring out my next guest. In fact, have you ever had these moments where you are feeling into something that doesn’t necessarily feel like something you know where it came from, or maybe you have this flashback as if your ancestors were creating or with you. Now, I don’t know about you, but oftentimes when we get those little glimpses of our past, those are actually a reflection of what’s also inside of our DNA. And today, my guest is Lisa Thomas, who is the founder of Epigenetics for Global Impact. Lisa is not only transforming lives with her work, but she’s also a TEDx speaker and has spoken on stages all over the world and sharing her gifts. Let’s learn a bit more about Lisa Thomas, welcome to the show, Lisa.

Lisa Thomas 1:22

I’m excited to be here in LA, in studio, in house with you, Rhonda.

Rhonda Swan 1:27

It’s so good, and it’s funny. I was as I was, you know, doing our introduction. I was like, it had me thinking of moments in time in my life where I felt there was a presence of something that was inherently mine, yet I didn’t know where it actually came from, and and when you and I had first talked about epigenetics, I was completely blown away to feel that this is our imprints that are in our DNA, and I want our audience to understand a little bit more deeply about what epigenetics actually is, and and how does that translate and download into our DNA? And what do we do with it? Right, right. It’s great. What do we do with it?

Lisa Thomas 2:11

And epigenetics is a big word, but let’s dial it down to be something that’s digestible in real life. Yeah. So epigenetics is the science of our inherited our our inherited patterns? So, for example, we we inherit whether we’re five feet five feet six or six two. We can’t change that. That’s hardwired into our DNA, the same as if we have brown, green, or blue eyes, right?

Rhonda Swan 2:38

Yep.

Lisa Thomas 2:39

But how our DNA expresses itself is based on our ancestors’ lives and their fears and their phobias and their traumas, and that gets passed down in our cellular memory. And there’s actually a name for it in science, and they are called informational tags. And informational tags can get turned on at any point in our life. So, for example, hypothetically, let’s say there’s an inherited addiction of alcohol, and there’s three children. Well, one child that informational tag might get turned on as an addiction to alcohol, and they struggle with alcohol in their life, but the next child, if it turns on, it could be an addiction to control. It could be the third one, an addiction to perfectionism, earning their worth through struggle and trial. Right. So it’s very interesting how it everyone can inherit it in the family, in the children, or they cannot. It doesn’t mean it gets turned on for everyone, and there’s no rhyme or reason. I have a theory that these informational tags get turned on as we experience conditioning in our life. Childhood conditioning can turn something on. We also have what’s called learned behavior, and they’re all intermixed, but what we inherit from our ancestors is not all bad. Can I just speak to that for a second?

Rhonda Swan 4:09

Yeah, let’s because I know a lot of people that watch this. Right, sometimes they’re like, “Whoa, this little airy fairy, or this is a lot. But this is science. This is science, right? So I want to identify that. This is science, and you did bring up something before you jump into that because you you literally gave me a flash right because my father was alcoholic and drug addict all my life

Speaker 2 4:31

okay

Rhonda Swan 4:32

and I remember growing up thinking I don’t I’ll never touch it I don’t want to get near any of that because I don’t want this to turn on right and I didn’t know what it was at the time and however what did turn on for me was perfectionism.

Lisa Thomas 4:45

There you go,

Rhonda Swan 4:45

right? And but making declarations, alcohol and drugs, none of that will control my life, right? It gave me a lot of fuel. So how then does someone that like for myself it does show up that? Does that mean that it can show up for someone else in a very, very different way, and they can still have the same pattern, or they are they destined to the pattern? Maybe that’s a better question.

Lisa Thomas 5:09

Well, we all have free will, and we all have free choice, and that’s one of the great things about being human. Is we wanted to come to Earth because we wanted free choice. We wanted a body. We wanted to learn from life experience, so it’s not predestined, right? I did not know that there were alcohol was alcohol in my family, but as a loyal child, I made a decision I wasn’t going to drink. Okay, and there’s been a few times where I’ve been like, oh, maybe I should, but as an adult, I went through postpartum depression, and come to find out, I’d had a grandmother who had suffered from depression. But in my parents’ generation, you didn’t talk about those things. Everything’s fine. You don’t talk about what you don’t want to know, right? Because somehow there’s some whatever shame or embarrassment. But it’s through that experience that I found out there was alcoholism, so I better understood why I had not chosen to drink it. But on the flip side, there have been members of my family and my own children that have struggled with that. So I wish that I knew what I know now. 20 years ago, or you know, 15 years ago, I’ve been doing my work solid in my work.

Rhonda Swan 6:22

Well, it’s almost like you have you almost have a map for someone to look at their past and look at their life. Like because you know we always say if you don’t like what’s happening right now in your life, look back what you did a year, two years, two weeks, whatever it might be. However, this is different. This is

Lisa Thomas 6:36

different.

Rhonda Swan 6:37

Go back to what your ancestors and what your family patterns in their DNA.

Lisa Thomas 6:41

Yeah, you really need to become self-aware. So these are the things that lie in the subconscious. These are the things that you go with some maturity. You go, oh, I keep bumping into this wall. I keep going two steps forward, three steps back, and then you pause and say, oh, what is in this within me? What’s this within me, that might be a reflective pattern of something before me. So let’s go simple. It can be a phobia of spiders, right? Maybe as a little girl or a little boy, you’ve been challenged with the fear of spiders, but you never had a direct incident with spiders. But maybe your great great grandfather, while chopping wood, was bit by a spider and almost died, and that trauma of spiders would get passed down. So then, at three years old, when you see the spider and freak out, and that doesn’t change, right? But there’s no direct relationship,

Rhonda Swan 7:36

and that can be for so many different things. So how do then people then get through that or get over it? Is it more of awareness, or is it something that they can use as a superpower and leverage?

Lisa Thomas 7:45

Well, that’s interesting. That’s a great question. There is a way to remove it. So I think of it as vibrational frequencies that get passed down. We can have markers passed down in our epigenetics for cancer. We can be predispositioned to those things. That’s not what I focus on. I love the emotional side of how our DNA expresses itself. Yeah, and so think of it this way: every word in the dictionary has a frequency or a vibrational attachment to it, but we as humans we don’t walk around thinking, “Oh, I’m vibrating at 528 megahertz in this particular moment, no, but we do have an awareness that we don’t feel good. Maybe we’re sad. Maybe we’re in grief, and love is the highest vibration, and shame would be the lowest. And within shame, we can experience embarrassment. Like for example, did you ever get blamed for something in your family or at school that you didn’t do.

Rhonda Swan 8:41

Yes.

Lisa Thomas 8:42

Okay. Well, that’s shameful. It’s embarrassing.

Rhonda Swan 8:44

Yep.

Lisa Thomas 8:45

And so when we raise our hand in third grade, and we get the answer wrong, and then the kids laugh, then what does that do? We say we’re not safe talking. If we don’t know the right answer, we’re not going to contribute. We’re not safe being seen, and we’re not safe speaking up. That carries into our adulthood and how we show up as in our careers.

Rhonda Swan 9:07

So this makes me think often. I know you work with entrepreneurs, and people have these money blocks, right? Where they’re like, “Why can’t I reach this? Or why am I going here? Or they just don’t even feel like they’re worthy of making money. Can that be passed down? And that I think does that get raised, right? 100% changed.

Lisa Thomas 9:26

So it can get passed down. First of all, I love the money conversation, and I love eradicating money beliefs because that’s what they are-they’re a belief. And how often have you heard at the table growing up, money doesn’t grow on trees, or who are you to want more? You got. You’re good with what you got, right? And as an entrepreneur who really wants to make a difference in the world, you’re always trying to expand. So if you’re raised to constrict, then it’s hard to expand. So you’re going to bump up against those limiting beliefs around money, and that money has to be hard or be a struggle. Share a quick story about money. Okay, this woman came to me, and she came to me with that she wanted to close her business. She had two employees. She said they hated her. She couldn’t make a decision, and even though she was making good money, she was trapped in this cycle of making money. and And she said, “I want you to help me dissolve my business. I said, “Well, what would it look like, maybe, if we cleared some inherited patterns around your belief with earning money? And she goes, “And oh, by the way, I have a really hard time making a decision, so I’ve broken up with my fiance three times in a year, and I’m like, ‘That’s tough. That’s a rough. That’s rough in life. So here’s what it was. Her great grandfather was raised in the Great Depression, and the family had a lot of money because he owned warehouses, but he had an addiction to gambling. So here they are, extremely wealthy, and he gambles away, rolls the dice, and loses the last warehouse and they go into poverty. So here she is, you know, a couple generations later, and every decision is overwhelming. Every decision feels like she’s gambling her life away. Cleared it, okay? She now has 20 employees, doubled her income, and she married the guy. Meaning she’s was able to take action. She got rid of that scarcity and the fear of losing it all, because oftentimes, Rhonda, I find that it doesn’t matter how much money we have in the bank. Really, for people that are extremely wealthy, but they can have dreams at night that they’re going to lose it all. So it doesn’t matter if you have $500 or $5 million. You can still have that innate sense that money’s going to run out,

Rhonda Swan 11:46

and it’s and it’s and it’s an energy, right? So people then, yeah, your own, you’re wearing then this feeling, whether a belief system,

Rhonda Swan 11:54

yeah, the belief system, right? So this is this then we can imprint new patterns of what we’re creating based on what came through from our family in our

Lisa Thomas 12:04

past.

Rhonda Swan 12:06

So when people hit a point, right? Let’s say we’re they’re in a point of like this woman. I I might have to shut my business down because it’s almost as if they get stuck in this cycle, and it it can become exhausting.

Lisa Thomas 12:18

Yeah.

Rhonda Swan 12:18

Right.

Speaker 3 12:19

It is. I’ve seen it.

Rhonda Swan 12:20

I’ve seen it with entrepreneurs all the time. They’re up, they’re down, and their nervous system goes so crazy that they actually don’t believe they can continue to do it. But they always end up on the top. But they drop themselves just through their belief systems.

Lisa Thomas 12:34

Well, it becomes so overwhelming, and overwhelm can be that pattern of living in overwhelm can very much be inherited, and so when life becomes so overwhelming and you can’t see the way out, and then you have people who are judging you and being critical of you, everybody-it’s human nature. Maybe I need to pivot and look at something else. She just wanted to quit. Now quitting isn’t bad when we need to pivot, but for her, it was an inherited pattern that was keeping her in this cycle of struggle, indecisiveness, and overwhelm. So, what is

Rhonda Swan 13:07

your best suggestion, then, Lisa, to those that might be in this type of position? Whether it’s a bad position, it’s not necessarily their their life is poor. It’s more that they’re experiencing things that are consistently showing up them, like the relationships, the money, yeah, right. So, what is the next step for someone to take? Obviously, working with you would be a great step. How can they do that? And you know

Lisa Thomas 13:31

what? It doesn’t have to be with me privately. I certify students. I certify people all over the world, because I realize it’s not about Lisa Thomas. It’s that ripple effect of helping people throughout the world. I also have audios. I have many layers and levels to work with me and to let go of this these generational patterns.

Rhonda Swan 13:51

So talk about this certification.

Lisa Thomas 13:53

Yeah,

Rhonda Swan 13:54

because I think that that’s something that’s right now in the area that we’re in and in the amount of trauma that we experience just in our our living you know time, yeah. People are searching for ways to not only support their families themselves, but also then to help shift the consciousness of what’s happening right now on this planet. And these are the type of this is the type of work that I think people are looking for.

Lisa Thomas 14:18

Yeah, this work goes deep. Yeah, and yet it’s not traumatic. It’s no deep shadow work. It’s the ability to for somebody else’s subconscious to give the answer of what really needs to be released. Because when the sub the subconscious is in charge, by the way, and I think that the ego gets a bad rap. I think we’re critical of the ego when really all it wants to do is be our BFF. It wants to help us. It wants to protect us. So when it realizes that it is in charge and that we’re just asking what’s causing this money scarcity, oh bam, right? Then it it will let go of it, and we don’t. What used to be hard doesn’t have to be hard. So this type. Certification is for people who know that they want to make a difference in the world, and so you might already be working in a service-based business and making good traction, but not going as deep as you want. This is for you because you can add it to any type of work you do. You can add it as in therapy. You can add it in any wellness category. In in yoga, you could add it and then do these as do these types of things in a group. So it’s really for people who want that next step of knowledge to help the people that they serve. It’s a great tool.

Rhonda Swan 15:34

I love it. And how do they find that? Where and where would they? Yeah, you

Lisa Thomas 15:37

can go to Lisa Thomas Global.

Rhonda Swan 15:39

Okay, we’ll make sure all that gets in our show notes as well. Final question: What is what is next for you, Lisa?

Lisa Thomas 15:46

That’s a great question. What I have learned over these last this last year in my life is the power of saying yes when I don’t necessarily know what the outcome is going to be. I say yes when it feels like it’s the right step, and I really love speaking on stage. Where, as a child, that was my biggest fear was public speaking, and to feel that this this yes these yeses in my life have turned into this ability to teach a hard concept in a simple, distilled way to help people understand why they are the way they are, that lights me up. So I have a lot of those opportunities this year. I might give another TEDx talk. I’m talking about that in kind of negotiation with that, so to speak. That lights me up. It lights me up to help people throughout in any aspect of their life,

Rhonda Swan 16:44

yeah, I love that. Such an inspiration, especially when someone is so passionate about the work that they do, and I know that you are. You can feel that. And if there was a advice that you would give someone, let’s say it’s the woman that you were speaking with, that maybe is kind of at the sort of a wits end because they keep running into these cycles, and of course today there’s some awareness behind how to change that. But what what kind of advice would you give to that person?

Lisa Thomas 17:11

It’s never too late. It does not matter what you’ve done. It does not matter what you have not done. There is always more within you. We have more capacity. We have more abilities than we ever know that we even understand about ourselves. And when you say yes to allowing what doesn’t work to go, when you say yes to you, that’s when you get get to really begin and experience life. Because I 100% think, and I believe that there’s more in life to experience: more joy, more love, more happiness, more money, more more from deep within. Say say yes to yourself.

Rhonda Swan 17:55

Say yes. Say yes. Say yes to yourself. I love that. Thank you, Lisa, so much. Oh my gosh, I loved

Lisa Thomas 18:01

it. The

Rhonda Swan 18:01

work that you do, I’m super excited too because we are also publishing a book together this year. Yes, we

Lisa Thomas 18:05

are

Rhonda Swan 18:06

the part of the leadership edition of Women Gone Wild. Really exciting. There’s going to be a lot of ways for us to be sharing, you know, and to to see you. And I, I just want you to know how grateful I am for the work that you do.

Lisa Thomas 18:20

Thank you,

Rhonda Swan 18:20

and the energy you put out to help make people’s lives better.

Lisa Thomas 18:24

And I’m grateful for you. Thank you, Rhonda.

Rhonda Swan 18:26

Thank you. All right. Well, what do you say? Imagine sitting there wondering why does that keep happening to me, and how do I go about making that shift? What happens if you were conscious about the patterns that were showing up in your life, what if you could clear them and help others do the same? What if you could step on stage and support a whole community and transfer that energy that you’ve now got because you understand where these patterns are coming from. That’s what Lisa Thomas stands for: global shift for epigenetics for global impact. This is the next generation and the next level of transformation. That’s what Lisa Thomas is doing with epigenetics for global impact. Follow Lisa. Look into taking that next step and shifting what might be occurring for you, but also for others. Thank you all for being here. I look forward to seeing you on the very next episode. We are here live in LA, and we’ll be continuing to film here in LA. And next up, we’ll be back in New York City. Join me on the Rhonda Swan Show if you have a story to tell. We want to learn more about the story behind the brand and learn how you got to where you are today. So don’t forget to be unstoppable and stay wild.
